Your Privacy Matters
Host a Pet’s mission is to bring together a network of pet lovers that strives to reduce the “paw print” of their pets while being socially aware and ecologically conscious. Happy pets and peaceful owners. We are committed to be transparent about the data we collect about you, how it is used and with whom it is shared.
This Privacy Policy is applicable when you use our Services (described below). We offer our users choices about the data we collect, use and share as described in this Privacy Policy.

Introduction
Our Privacy Policy applies to any registered user (“Member”) to our Services and non-members that access (“Visitors”) our Services available at Hostapet.com/ca and through our mobile applications on Android and/or iOS. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Statement. If we make material changes to this statement, we will provide you with notice or obtain consent regarding such changes as may be required by applicable law. We encourage you to review the Privacy Statement whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.

Change
Host a Pet (“we” or “us”) can modify this Privacy Policy, and if we make material changes to it, we will provide notice through our Services, or by other means, to give you the opportunity to review the changes before they become effective. If you object to any changes, you may close your account.
You acknowledge that your continued use of our Services after we publish or send a notice about our changes to this Privacy Policy means that the collection, use and sharing of your personal information (as defined below) is subject to the updated Privacy Policy at any time.

Definition of Personal information
When used in this Privacy Policy, personal information means “any information about an identifiable individual”. This may include, for example, your name, official identification documents, contact information, email address, information relating to your account with us, including your identity and the services you use and subscribe to, as well as credit and banking information, billing records and any complaints documents on file about your account and your behaviors while using our services.
It may also include other types of more technical information such as subscribers/users’ IP addresses, user IDs, meta-data (e.g. who our subscriber communicated with, when and where this communication occurred), browser history (pages accessed, date of access, location when accessed), but only when this information can identify you as an individual. Personal information that is aggregated and cannot be associated with an identifiable individual is not considered to be personal information.

Collection of Personal Information
We collect most of our information about you directly from you, with your consent.

Registration
To create an account, you need to provide data including your name, email address, postal address, mobile number, photo of your face, descriptions of yourself and your home, pictures of your home, date of birth and password and all information related to your pet(s) (such as breed, age, photos, veterinarian contact information, and vaccination status and carnet), and your skills and abilities to care for your pet(s) or others (such as training certifications, training, etc…).
We may also collect payment information from you, such as bank account number, transit number and institution to pay the service providers for their services via the Host a Pet platform. Information regarding your credit card for payment such as card type, expiration date and security number are processed by a third-party payment processor. Thus, we do not store or have access to such information. If you are a Service Provider, you can provide us with your voluntary background check certificate.

Profile
You have choices regarding the information on your profile, such as official identification (passport, driver’s license, medical card), proof of address and pictures of your home. Your ID and your proof of address will not be made public in your profile. We may also collect information when you communicate with us, participate in a contest, participate in our promotional efforts or surveys or when you interact with our customer support staff.
You don’t have to provide additional information on your profile. Your profile (except your proof of ID, proof of address and last name) is available to Members and Visitors. Please do not post or add personal information to your profile that you would not want to be publicly available.

Posting and Uploading
We collect personal information from you when you provide, post or upload it to our Services, such as when you post a review about another Member or when you use the chat function.

Service Use
We log usage data when you visit or otherwise use our Services, including when you reserve one of our Services, or when you view or click on content or ads (on or off our sites and apps), perform a search, or install or update one of our mobile apps. We use log-ins, cookies, device information and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your use.

Cookies, Web Beacons and Other Similar Technologies
When you use our Services, we may collect, using electronic means such as cookies, technical information. This information may include information about your visit to our Services, including the IP address of your computer and which browser you used to view our website, your operating system, resolution of screen, location, language settings in browsers, the site you came from, keywords searched (if arriving from a search engine), the number of page views, information you entered, advertisements you have seen, etc. This data is used to measure and improve the effectiveness of our website or enhance the experience for our customers. We treat this information as personal information when it is associated with your account or contact information. For instance, we may collect and use the following type of information when you visit and/or interact with us on our websites:

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics which allows us to see information on user website activities including, but not limited to, page views, source and time spent on our website. This information is depersonalized and is displayed as numbers, meaning that it cannot be tracked back to individuals. You may opt-out of our use of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Analytics opt-out page.

• Google AdWords: We may use Google AdWords Remarketing to advertise Host a Pet across the Internet and to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to our websites. AdWords remarketing will display ads to you based on what parts of the Host a Pet website you have viewed by placing a cookie on your web browser. It could mean that we advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site or this could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. This cookie does not in any way identify you or give access to your computer or mobile device. The cookie is only used to indicate to other websites that you have visited a particular page on our website, so that they may show you ads relating to that page. If you do not wish to participate in our Google AdWords Remarketing, you can opt out by visiting Google’s Ads Preferences Manager.

• Your Choice with Cookies. You can block the use of cookies by activating the settings in your browser. The “Help” feature on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. If you choose to withhold consent, or subsequently block cookies, you may not be able to access all or part of the content of our website. Additionally, you can disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons, by changing the add-on’s settings or visiting the website of its manufacturer.

Your Device and Location
When you visit or leave our Services (including our plugins or cookies or similar technology on the sites of others), we receive the URL of both the site you came from and the one you go to next. We also get information about your IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, and/or ISP or your mobile carrier. If you use our Services from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your location (Geolocalization) based on your phone settings. We will ask you to opt-in before we use GPS or other tools to identify your precise location.

Messages
We collect information about you when you send, receive, or engage with messages in connection with our Services, such as the chat function.

Other
Our Services are dynamic, and we often introduce new features, which may require the collection of new information. If we collect materially different personal information or materially change how we use your data, we will notify you and may also modify this Privacy Policy.

How We Use Your Data
How we use your personal information will depend on which Services you use, how you use those Services and the choices you make in your settings. We use the data that we have about you to provide and personalize, including with the help of automated systems and inferences we make, our Services (including ads) so that they can be more relevant and useful to you and others.

Services
We use your data to authorize access to our Services, to allow you to connect with other users and to recommend the services offered by other users that may be relevant to you based on your preferences, localization and relevance. For instance, we may make suggestions based on your location, your profile and your interaction with the Services, such as the profiles you have viewed.

Communications
We will contact you through email, mobile phone, mobile applications, notices posted on our websites or apps, messages to your Host a Pet inbox, and other ways through our Services, including text messages and push notifications. We will send you messages about the availability of our Services, security, or other service-related issues. You may change your communication preferences at any time send us an email to support@hostapet.com. Please be aware that you cannot opt-out of receiving service messages from us, including security and legal notices.

We also enable communications between you and others through our Services.

Advertising
Subject to your right to withdraw consent described in the section entitled Right to Withdraw Consent, we may serve you tailored ads both on and off our Services. We may target (and measure the performance of) ads to Members, Visitors and others both on and off our Services directly or through a variety of partners, using the following data, whether separately or combined:
• Data from advertising technologies on and off our Services, like web beacons, pixels, ad tags, cookies, and device identifiers;
• Member-provided information (e.g., profile, contact information); and
• Data from your use of our Services.

Marketing
We use data and content about Members for invitations and communications promoting membership and network growth, engagement and our Services.

Developing Services and Research
We use data, including public feedback, to conduct research and development for the further development of our Services in order to provide you and others with a better, more intuitive and personalized experience, drive membership growth and engagement on our Services, and help connect professionals to each other and to economic opportunity.

Customer Support
We use the data (which can include your communications) to investigate, respond to and resolve complaints and Service issues (e.g., bugs).

Aggregate Insights
We use your data to produce and share aggregated insights that do not identify you. For example, we may use your data to generate statistics about our Members.

Security and Investigations
We use your data (including your communications) if we think it’s necessary for security purposes or to investigate possible fraud or other violations of our Terms and Conditions or this Privacy Policy and/or attempts to harm our Members or Visitors.

How We Share Information
Our Services
Any data that you include on your profile and any content you post on our Services will be seen by others.

Profile
Your profile and any reviews you post on the Services are fully visible to all Members and Visitors except information relating to your background check, your personal identifications documents and certifications that you upload. A trophy will indicate that you have provided these multiple sources of information.

Service Providers
We use third parties to help us provide our Services (e.g., maintenance, analysis, audit, payments, fraud detection, marketing and development). They will have access to your information as reasonably necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes.

Legal Disclosures
It is possible that we will need to disclose information about you when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (1) investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (2) enforce our agreements with you, (3) investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations, (4) protect the security or integrity of our Services (such as by sharing with companies facing similar threats); or (5) exercise or protect the rights and safety of Host a Pet, our Members, personnel, or others. We attempt to notify Members about legal demands for their personal information when appropriate in our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency. We may dispute such demands when we believe, in our discretion, that the requests are overbroad, vague or lack proper authority, but we do not promise to challenge every demand.

Business Transactions
We may disclose personal information to a third party in connection with a sale or transfer of business or assets, an amalgamation, re-organization or financing of parts of our business. However, in the event the transaction is completed, your personal information will remain protected by applicable privacy laws. In the event the transaction is not completed, we will require the other party not to use or disclose your personal information in any manner whatsoever and to completely delete such information.

Right to Withdraw Consent
Consent to the collection, use and sharing of personal information may be withdrawn at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; however, without such consent, Host a Pet inc. may limit the services or products it is able to provide customers. You may also withdraw your consent as follows by contacting us using the contact information in the section entitled How to Contact Us below.

RETENTION
We retain your personal information while your account is in existence or as needed to provide you Services. This includes data you or others provided to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our Services. Personal information that is no longer required to fulfil the identified purposes will be destroyed, erased or made anonymous.

Access and Correction
Host a Pet respects your right to access and correct your personal information. If you have an online account with us, you can log into your account at any time to access and update the information you have provided to us. Additionally, Host a Pet complies with all laws regarding access and correction. If you need assistance updating your personal information, please contact us using the contact information detailed in the How to Contact Us section below.

Security of Personal Information
We will use reasonable security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access. Host a Pet has implemented security measures that contain administrative, technical and physical controls that are designed to safeguard your personal information. For example, we use industry-standard encryption technology to secure sensitive personal information when it is being collected and transmitted over the Internet as well as firewalls, site monitoring and intrusion detection software.

Personal Information Outside of Canada
Your personal information may be stored outside Canada, including in Mexico and in the United States. As a result, it may be subject to the laws applicable in foreign jurisdictions and may be available to government authorities under lawful orders and laws applicable in such foreign jurisdictions.
